About Complaints

Depending on the reason for your complaint, your complaint may be filed with OIEC or with the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC).

Complaints regarding OIEC's policies, procedures, or employees

These types of complaints are handled by OIEC. OIEC will:

Complaints about the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC), the law or rules, a workers' compensation health care network, a health care provider, or your insurance carrier

Please note that this is not the process to dispute the results of a proceeding, such as a benefit review conference or a contested case hearing. If you have questions about your claim, proceeding, or appeal, please call us at (866) 393-6432.

Include the following information with your complaint:

  • your name, address, and phone number,
  • the full name of any individuals who may be involved, and
  • your DWC number or social security number.

Please send your complaint letter or completed OIEC Complaint Form along with all documentation via mail, email, or fax.

You also have the right to request alternative dispute resolution (ADR) to resolve a complaint made against OIEC if our response to your complaint has not been finalized. If OIEC agrees to grant your request for ADR, all costs associated with the mediation will be split equally between yourself and OIEC.

In making a request for ADR, please be advised that OIEC is not in a position to grant benefits under the Texas Workers' Compensation Act. Requests for ADR must be made in writing by mail, email, or fax as explained above.
